DEFINITION OF THE ATTITUDES - 3"YOU ARE ALL CROOKS" ATTITUDE Underlying all of this was the thought—still existing—that the idea that any sort of mineral investment is the equivalent of buying the Brooklyn Bridge. This has run from pointing fingers at the individual "mining promoters (when did this become such an ugly term?)" clear up to stock manipulation on "market maker" level as the BriEx scandal of geologists salting claims in New Guinea. "You want to interest me in mineral exploration? My mother didn't raise any fools! I prospect for "real" gold mines. HOW ALL THIS IS CHANGING? So here we are in, as the old timers would have put it "ought seven," and everything seems to be headed to "what is old, is new again." September 11th seemed to be the decisive turning point. Those out to control the world into following what they felt best, had gone too far. President Bush, in an address to the nation shortly after 9/11 actually—gasp—mentioned the importance of hard rock mining. Better yet, Bush rolled back some of the sly (but illegal) regulations from previous administrations that had been added over the years to the "pig pile," squashing the individual prospector. The fact that this attention by Bush was basically in support of large oil companies (some of those companies are also into mining) doesn't diminish the importance of the actions. |
